Colossus

La classe Colossus fut conçue comme un maillon intermédiaire entre les porte-avions lourds de la classe Illustrious et les escorteurs américains : la coque fut construite selon des procédés issus de la marine marchande et la propulsion en partie empruntée aux croiseurs légers. Colossus participa, comme navire amiral de la 11e escadre de porte-avions, à la libération de Hong Kong et de Shanghai. En 1946, il fut cédé à la Marine nationale et renommé Arromanches. Sous pavillon français, il prit part aux opérations en Indochine et à la crise de Suez.
